Migrated from the UK as jackeroo/stud groom in 1960. Ordained in 1966 and consecrated a Bishop in 1985.

Extensively involved in Church development of Parishes and Schools, theological education (was Vice-Principal and Principal of two theological colleges) and social justice advocacy. Became Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn in 1993. Awarded the Centenary medal in 2000 and an Honorary Doctorate in 2008.
From 2003 – 2011 was Chair of the International Anglican Communion Environment Network.

In retirement is researching a PhD on the intersection between theology, economy and ecology.
